Father
John Selleck was born in Roscoe, NY, son of a Doctor and
an Irish Mother. He was raised, along with eight other siblings, in
the foothills of the Catskill Mountains. After graduating from
Epiphany College in Newburgh, New York, he entered
Our Lady of
the Angels Seminary in Niagara Falls, New York in 1952. He was
ordained to the priesthood on June 15, 1957, for the Diocese of Camden, New Jersey.
After serving over 5 years in Atlantic City, New Jersey, he entered the U.S. Air
Force in 1963. In the course of over twenty-eight years of active
duty, he served as a Chaplain in Korea, Japan, Thailand, the Netherlands, and
various other locations until his retirement from
Tyndall Air Force Base, Florida, in 1991.
Due to the shortage of priests, Fr. John asked the
Bishop of Camden to make him a Missionary in the South. Therefore, he was
sent to Northwest Florida where he served more than 9 years as
Administrator in Blountstown and Wewahitchka. Father has served at St.
Dominic's since August 2000, where he has devoted much of his time to the
Prison ministry.
