LifeTeen
is a youth ministry program designed to lead high school teens closer
to Christ by engaging them in spiritual, educational, social, and service
opportunities.
To provide this
direction, Life Teen/CYO encourages teens to embark on a journey of faith
in a relationship with God through Jesus Christ and His Church. At a
weekly 6 PM Sunday Mass, teens experience the depths of God's love through
praise, prayer, the Word, the music ministry, their peers, and the
Sacraments. All teens are welcome to gather around the altar as a family
to take part in the Eucharistic celebration.
LifeTeen/CYO
meet in the Parish Hall each Sunday, during the school year,
following the
teen Mass. The Youth Minister and core members lead the teens deeper
into their Catholic faith through the LIFE Night experience. Life
Night may be about a relevant issue, an educational teaching, or just
about having fun in a social atmosphere. Regardless of the subject,
we always aim to include teens in an interactive way. Sessions are
filled with skits and music as well as time for prayer and meditation. We
believe that teens are eager to hear the Truth in a fun, and open
environment. Teens not only feel loved, accepted, and obliged, they
also grow as a faith community, growing in understanding of what it means
to be young and Catholic in the world today where many people experience a
sense of hopelessness about their future and lack meaning and direction
for their lives.
Each semester we
have a theme which we try to unpack together with the hope of wrapping our
lives around the truth of what Jesus Christ is calling us to as Catholic
Christians.
In addition to the Life Nights, St. Dominic provides other opportunities
such as parish retreats and national conferences to help teens learn more
about their faith and teach them to apply it to their daily lives. We
have several service opportunities throughout the year, as well as social
activities.
